Digital Orchestra
The Digital Orchestra by Golikov represents a new symphonic orchestra formation that intends to build an international community of like-minded musicians to take this "boundless" project to different countries. Due to global restrictions caused by the COVID 19 pandemic, foreign musicians were unfortunately not able to participate in the first recordings of the Digital Orchestra. The current line-up of the orchestra, which is momentarily based in Russia, includes leading musicians from the Bolshoi, Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky theatres, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and various soloists from St. Petersburg and Moscow. Besides, several international chamber music ensembles will play at the BEE250VEN Festival under the umbrella of the initiative. The Digital Orchestra's first major performance is the recording of all nine completed symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven. The 9th symphony will be performed by the Digital Orchestra musicians recorded in Saint Petersburg as well as the Digital Chorus from Berlin, which will tune in from the famous Emil Berliner Studios. The project has celebrated its premiere on August 21 on the platform Classic@Home.
