Symphony No.6 F major “Pastoral”  op.68

The „Pastoral“ Sixth symphony was finished simultaneously with the C minor Fifth symphony in 1808, but it markedly differs from it in its spirit. Beethoven, who put up with the incurable illness – deafness – is not fighting here with the wicked destiny, but glorifies the great power of nature and simple joys of life. “Pastoral” is the only symphony that has titles for every movement:

  1. Awakening of cheerful feelings on arrival in the countryside
  2. Scene by the brook
  3. Merry gathering of country folk
  4. Storm
  5. Shepherd’s song. Cheerful and thankful feelings after the storm.

Performers:

Die 6th Symphony will be performed by Mihaela Martin, Frans Helmerson, Michael Barenboim, Razvan Popovici, Oren Shevlin and Yamen Saadi.

Location:

Beethoven’s Pastoral symphony will sound over… the Rhein, storied with legends, on the Beethoven motor ship. As we know, Beethoven was born in a small town of Bonn on the Rhein – a picturesque rural landscape surrounding musicians and visible from the motor boat will beautifully complement the idyllic motifs of his music.
