The concert hall of the charming Elmau castle is the perfect setting for a concert where classical and romantic pieces are combined and where love and passion are the key themes! From approx. 1849 Robert Schumann dedicated himself to composing of idyllic chamber pieces, trying to distract from the political disturbances around him and to take refuge in his family life. His compositions of that period are “kind of soft, delicately-smelling flowers which do not enjoy great success in the society, but restore the souls of a small circle” and clearly reflect Schumann´s state of mind.

Pieces composed for horn take an important part in the artistic heritage of Johannes Brahms. The composer himself played horn in his childhood and youth and his mother was particularly fond of it. No wonder horn also plays a key role in the trio written by Brahms on his mother´s death in 1865, - don´s miss the third movement, the Adagio where the horn sounds extremely pathetic!

All pieces will be performed by the outstanding, world-known musicians.

The trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov, who lives in Paris, here on the flugelhorn, is considered an exceptional figure and one of thу world's best trumpet players.  The Japanese violinist Daishin Kashimoto, concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, won four major international violin competitions.

The pianist Maria Meerovitch, long-time piano partner of Sergei Nakariakov, has won first prizes in international competitions several times after studying in St.Petersburg (Anatoly Ugorski class) and now particularly committed to chamber music.
