Dear friends!

The timeout before the next CLASSIC AT HOME concert should not be too long! Therefore, we have prepared a little pleasant surprise for you - on April 16 at 19:00 (Berlin), you will hear Camille Saint-Saens's “The Swan” from his musical suite “The Carnival of the Animals”.

This is a classical hit, a catchy melody that has been performed by numerous music groups as well as ballet dancers and figure skaters. This time, the “swans” will be presented by eight cellists of different generations and nationalities who will perform not only the cello part and the piano accompaniment, but also the parts composed by one of the participating musicians, Daniel Geiss.

Each cellist's solo performance together with others forms a composition with orchestra sounding, which is much similar, in its polyphonic choral structure and melodramatic musical language, to late romanticism music – Pyotr Tchaikovsky's and Jules Massenet's compositions. However, we shall not reveal all the nuances to you. Soon you will hear the "8 Swans"' version.

You will hear the music, played across the borders by brilliant musicians: Lynn Harrell (USA) - multiple Grammy Award winner, as well as a number of remarkable cellists, outstanding soloists, laureates of various music competitions, some of them - professors and directors of music academies and festivals: Johannes Moser (Germany - Canada); Tina Guo (China - USA); Alexander Hülshoff (Germany); Chen Yibai (China); Alexandre Castro-Balbi (France); Fjodor Elesin (Russia - Germany); Daniel Geiss (Germany).

The musicians really enjoyed recording this composition, and conveyed its spirit as proper. The sound engineer combined successfully all the recordings into a single whole, finally reproducing a volant act of creating music, contrary to all distances and limitations.

We wish you pleasant viewing and hope to meet you soon!
