A delightful chamber music formation – piano and strings!

Don´t miss another Öschberghof Klassik concert broadcasted from the Beethoven concert hall in a recreation and golf resort Öschberghof! The outstanding QUATOUR HERMÈS string quartet playing on July the 11th was founded in 2008 and includes Élise Liu as well as Omer Bouchez on violins, Lou Yung-Hsin Chang on viola and Yan Levionnois on cello. Haiou Zhang, the famous pianist, the moving spirit and the musical director of the Öschberghof Klassik concert cycle himself will show what he can bring out of his instrument rounding a string quartet off to a piano quintet!

The concert will include two joyful and electrifying pieces written in A major key under the slogan MOZART meets DVOŘAK:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Concerto No. 12 for piano and orchestra A major KV 414 (1782) in an ingenious piano quintet arrangement made by Ignaz Lachner (German conductor and composer of the 19th century)
1. Allegro
2. Andante.
3. Rondeau
There are some indications that the so-called early Viennese piano concerts to which the A major concerto belongs were originally intended to be arranged for a piano quintet and to be played as a family music. The rondeau fragment arranged for a piano quintet by Mozart himself (KV 368) confirms it.

Antonin Dvořak
Piano quintet A major op.81 (1888)
1. Allegro, ma non tanto
2. Dumka. Andante con moto (variations based on the song “Death and the Maiden”)
3. Scherzo (Furiant). Molto vivace-Poco tranquillo
4. Finale. Allegro

One of the most popular chamber music pieces written by Dvořak resulted from an amazing fact: Dvořak had written a piano quintet in A major in his younger years but later declared it unworthy of his talent and rewrote it.
