Dominik Fischer
Dominik Fischer is a Swiss violist. At the present, he is mainly occupied as section leader in chamber orchestras . He is principal viola of Festival Strings Lucerne and the Zuger Sinfonietta.
Following his main studies with Wendy Champney at the Conservatoire of Zurich, he went on to specialise in chamber music under members of the Amadeus, Alban Berg and La Salle quartets at the Conservatoires of Basel and Cologne.
He has received numerous awards in competitions and from foundations. At a young age he was already winning violin, viola, and chamber music prizes in music competitions. He was awarded scholarships from Villa Musica Mainz, the Deutsche Musikwettbewerb and various foundations.
From its formation in 1996 until 2005, he was a member of the Casal Quartet. In various chamber ensembles he has performed with such eminent musicians as Martha Argerich, Giora Feidman, Régis Pasquier and Daniel Hope. His chamber music activity has led him to renowned festivals in Europe and North America.
