On this evening, the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater present a cantata for mezzo-soprano, mixed chorus and orchestra "Alexander Nevsky" in 7 parts to music by Sergei Prokofiev.

The artistic director of the theater, Valery Voronin, preserves the traditions of the prestigious project "Russian Operas in the Astrakhan Kremlin" and continues the heroic epos line of the Russian musical classics, coming from the operas "Ruslan and Lyudmila" by M.I. Glinka, "Prince Igor" by A.P. Borodin, "Boris Godunov" by M.P. Mussorgsky, "The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia" by N.А. Rimsky-Korsakov.

The full orchestra under the baton of maestro Voronin and the combined choir of the theater, which will be joined by the artists of the State Chorus of the Republic of Kalmykia named after A. Tsebekov and the solo singer of the Novaya Opera theater, the winner of the Big Opera television project Polina Shamaeva, will recreate the brightness and visibility of the images of each of the parts. It will allow the audience to imagine the endless Russian plains, Pskov devastated by the Germans, the battle of Lake Peipus, the frightening offensive of the Crusaders, the rapid attacks of the Russians, the death of the knights in the cold waves of the lake, the sound of the alarm bell and the music of peace and silence that came on the liberated land.

The strong point will be not only the musical, but also the visual component of the evening: 3D mapping, visual effects and an exhibition of works from the collection of the Astrakhan Art Gallery named after P.M. Dogadin.

The artistic director and chief conductor of the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater is Valery Voronin.
